Villa UH1: Minimalist Home With Contemporary Accents House in Sweden by RB Arkitektur

Villa UH1 Designed by the creative folks at RB Arkitektur as a minimalist home with contemporary accents. Villa UH1 Designed as a family house, it’s actually an eco-friendly example of how to go beyond the boundaries.

The house is conceived as part of the landscape climbing gently up a hilly terrain. An inner courtyard allows for privacy as well as for maximum daylight. The roof is covered with green moss, making the building integrate with the surrounding nature as the boundaries between construction and landscape dissolve. Project developed by Unika Hem Skandinavien AB. Photos by photographer Michael Perlmutter can be viewed here.

Situated in a residential neighborhood outside of Stockholm, Villa UH1 is designed as a German bunker from WWII and is built right into the side of a naturally sloping hillside. A living roof of Sedum covers the entire house, providing natural insulation and rainwater infiltration. Additionally, a geothermal heat pump provides heat and cooling for the U-shaped home. Designed by Stockholm based RB Arkitektur, this abode literally and beautifully blends into the environment.
