These two-story, four-bedroom, four-bathroom house is located in Newport Beach, California that was designed by Dan Heinfeld, president of LPA Architects for themselves, where Heinfeld lives with his wife and daughter. The aimed goal in the designing of this contemporary house was not only to build a beautiful and liveable home, but also a sustainable one. Heinfeld’s efforts towards building a sustainable home are found in such features as the use of recycled materials, VOC-free paint throughout, sensors that turn off lights when nobody is in the room, and solar panels on the roof. The contemporary home also takes advantage of the California climate by opening itself up to increase air flow and to make use of natural light, while providing the enjoyable experience of seamless indoor/outdoor living around a central courtyard.
