This simple house design and very elegant interior design developed by architect Arne Jacobsen. The different functions, namely bath and technics, sleeping rooms, kitchen and living room are organized in layers from north to south. While entering the house along the western wall, a long view from the entrance into the garden guides the visitor through the house.
Comparable to the floor plan the fascades are constructed in layers as well. On the upper part lamellas made of teak provide air ventilation, beneath them fixed glazings, the parapet cladded with painted wood plates. The composition of colours, the teak surfaces and the precise detailing of fascades and built-in furniture lets the simple house appear very elegant.
The building was renovated carefully, with the conservation of original construction elements as the prior demand. Interpreting Jacobsen‘s original planning the floors in all living areas were made in synthetic resin, which let the compact interior appear spacious and full of light. The furniture that consists of original pieces from the 50ies and 60ies was also refurbished to recreate an authentic interior that is set up in the spirit of the times. UTArchitects
