This semi-urban, family has a north facing street frontage with a laneway for vehicle access to the south. As a response the residence is set back to the south laneway to allow the living spaces to open up to the north. While a central feature courtyard providing a private, semi-enclosed outdoor space brings light, air and visual stimulation into the centre of the home.

A crisp, white roof floats effortlessy over the residence, cantilevered on the north to provide protection to an expansive terrace and outdoor entertainment area and punctured in the centre, allowing natural light to flood the central courtyard. The living rooms and bedrooms enjoy dual aspect and glazing can be retracted to completely open the space to the external courtyard and northern landscaped lawn.

Internally the edges are blurred with internal kitchen joinery extending to external alfresco bbq joinery that is recessed into the Northern Rivers spotted gum extrusion and further prtected by the soaring roof. The roof provides shelter to the semi-enclosed, delightful outdoor space between the kitchen and the master bedrom, which is open to he central courtyard. Designed by PAUL UHLMANN ARCHITECTS.
