Beautiful Villa Nefkens is beautiful family home designed by Mecanoo Architects for Nefkens family, this beautiful villa located in Wageningen, The Netherlands, where the border of the Veluwe and the Gelderse Vallei and the Rhine River meet one another.

The Nefkens family found this extraordinary location on which to build their home, affording them magnificent views of the Rhine. The design for the Nefkins villa takes its inspiration from the beautiful views from the living room and main bedrooms and also from the spacious kitchen/lounge area toward the big garden. Large terraces elevate the house to just above grade, making the house appear as if it is floating. The villa’s transition from interior to exterior is gradual and a canopy surrounding the whole house provides beautifully framed views while allowing the outdoor spaces to be enjoyed in the summer and fall. The round forms of the villa express the wish of the family to stay close to nature while simultaneously realising an individual design.

Contemporary House in La Zagaleta Spain by Thomas de Cruz Architects

This Contemporary House in La Zagaleta Spain with stunning views across a valley towards distant mountains in the west, this largely single aspect house uses the slope of the site to maximum advantage. The core of the house is a top lit double height gallery flooded with natural light that runs across the slope of the site. The prime living spaces are on the west side of the gallery whilst to the east ancillary accommodation and cooling courtyards are set into the hillside. All of the full height glazed facades parallel with the slope open fully to allow air to pass through the building, making the most of anabatic and katabatic winds. The cross ventilation, combined with large cantilevered roof overhangs and balconies which provide solar shading, reduces the reliance on air conditioning and extends the opportunity for comfortable open air living.

The calmness of the house is accentuated by water flowing from the gallery courtyard pool down over a slate-finished waterfall beneath the dining room to meet the lower of the two connected swimming pools. Via

Modern Multi Family Home Design by LOHA Architects

This modern architecture design Housing Complex designed by LOHA Architects, located adjacent to Rudolf Schindler’s Kings Road House, Habitat 825 (53.000 sf) draws inspiration from Schindler in developing new forms of contemporary lifestyle through the use of light, materials, colors and common open space.

The bold black and white color scheme accentuates the interlocking volumes, black for the large four story volume and white to allow light to filter to lower level units. Offsetting these colors, a striking lime green color, an abstract reference to the bamboo prominent in Schindler’s landscape scheme, is used to define the subtractive nature of carved out open space.
Materials are a combination of non-combustible cement board and local forest managed dark walnut stained redwood siding. The utilization of a rain screen system promotes a long life-cycle reducing the need for maintenance and repair. In addition, in Los Angelese’s warm climate, the movement of air between the building and the cladding cools the inner face of the exterior and reduces the demand for cooling energy.
This project provided an opportunity to address the critical issues of density, site and the cultural and social impacts that arise from building adjacent to a historical landmark. Attempting to “kick down the bamboo wall”, Habitat 825 and its expansive use of common open space creates an urban space without borders or property lines.

The Meadowview House is situated on the edge of a ribbon development village in rural Bedfordshire and is surrounded by mature trees, hedgerows and arable fields.

A sweet chestnut clad box is cantilevered off a solid masonry and glass plinth, from across the fields, it looks like it is floating over the hedgerows. The Meadowview House is a family home design for a retired couple, with a simple linear form with a horizontal emphasis.
On the ground floor, areas of glazing set up close, sensual relationships with the garden whilst the first floor offers a more detached experience of the landscape with long views framed like pictures on the wall.
The Meadowview House incorporates sustainable technologies such as rainwater recycling and a ventilation system with heat recovery. The landscaping forms a transition between the domestic and agricultural environments. via

The Peninsula Residence on Lake Austin by Bercy Chen Studio LP

The Peninsula Residence on Lake Austin is modern house designed by architect based in Austin, Texas, Bercy Chen Studio LP.

The Peninsula Residence project begins with a 1980’s home-builder house fronting on lake austin. The original design did not harness views to the lake and Mount Bonnell, nor did it respect the ecological sensitivity of its site. The challenge was to develop a sensitive and inventive result out of a pre-existing condition. Through the use of glass, steel, detailing and light the home has been adaptively reinvented. Reflection, translucency, color and geometry conspire to bring natural light deep into the house. A new solarium, pool, and vegetative roof are tuned to interact with the natural context. Exterior materials and refined detailing of the roof structure give the volume clean lines and a bold presence, while abstracting the form of the original dormers and gable roof. Further connecting the home to its site, the roof begins to dissolve where a glass clad chimney and slatted wood screen stand in relief against the sky.
