Open AD / Zane Tetere designed this beautiful wooden house surrounded by garden. Located in Marupe, Latvia, the house was built with a vertical direction with the second floor of the south side placed deper, resulting in direct sunlight. On the second floor, the bedroom has a spacious terrace with planned green plants. The building is finished with a blackish tree, creating a variety of boards, but resulting in a seamless whole volume, where the main emphasis is placed on form.
Inspired by stylistic Japanese tsubo gardens, this house building was constructed around a growing body compositional center-inner gadren. The Tsubo gardens represent the essential elements and create the illusion of nature just outside or even intering the room. Japanese garden culture has generally been integrated inside the house, creating a recreational area. The space around the garden was intended to be transparent, fusing yet at the same time separating the interior and exterior of a room.
