Modern luxury house design The Wide Open Villa by Klab Architecture located in Ekali. The monolithic volume creates two front-conditions: a curved one along the street and a planar one towards the private garden. From the outside the building has an austere, almost monumental character. Inside, plan and section work together to create a fluid void space that undermines the initial impression of monumentality by inviting extended exterior views to enter.
The most imposing feature of the house is located in the main living room, a grand stone-clad fireplace that connects both in spatial and visual terms the interior with the exterior. Additionally, the double-height space of the living room is flooded by light as a fully glazed wall provides unrestraint view of the main garden and the swimming pool. [via]
