Japanese Exterior Shoji Doors of the Yoshimura Residence
John Lum Architecture has completed this Japanese Yoshimura Residence remodels/ addition incorporates the client’s extensive Japanese garden design by integrating Japanese elements into this ranch-style Sunnyvale house, striking design, innovative use of materials and green technology, and modern. A new, dry-courtyard with a sculptural water rock is at the center, designed as a counterpoint to the lush gardens surrounding the rest of the house. Exterior shoji doors allow for privacy from a secondary guest bath. A simple, new gabled wing contains a master bedroom suite with an exercise area, two closets and a Japanese-style bathroom (with a custom ofuru) housed in a large maple box. A tatami room opens directly off of this suite and offers a tranquil retreat to complete the dry courtyard. Shoji doors and a custom tea table with hidden.
