Japanese designer Koicki Futatsumata has completed hair salon interior design in Fukuoka City, Japan.

A hair salon in Fukuoka City, Japan, this hair salon converted from an old four-story office building. “ In Japan, now our opinion on the trend of ‘scrap and build’ has just started to change,” says Futatsumata. “ The salon is on the first to third floors, the residence is on the fourth floor with a white-tiled exterior. The problem was how to work with the white tiled exterior which was the only character of the building and definitely not fascinating at all. Futatsumata picks up the tile theme for the interior, where all walls and floors are covered in tiles. Either remove all of the tiles or make good use of them. We tried to make a new concept using these tiles as a proof of the history of the building. We finally started to build the interior with other tiles and to adore these exterior white tiles. We used different colors and luster of tiles for the floors and the walls in the salon. The gradation of the tiles formed the character of the salon.
