This house built on a rugged lakefront property, this simple house is intentionally set back on its lot to preserve the existing trees and landscaping. The plan is shaped as a modified ‘H’ to maximize the exterior wall space and lake views. The living areas are organized in three distinct zones: Private spaces are located in the north wing, public spaces are located in the center, and functional spaces are located in the south wing.

The house is afforded full height window openings on its front facade without sacrificing privacy. Ceiling height windows provide a 270-degree view from the master bedroom. Simply furnished and appointed, interior spaces reveal no visual clutter when viewed from outdoors. A simple glass mosaic tile backsplash and low-profile cabinet pulls lend an ultra-sleek quality to the master bathroom. Two foot by two foot limestone floor tiles were wet ground to create a seamless white surface that covers the entire first floor. The white limestone floor tiles were also used to create a truly minimal fireplace surround in the great room. A full height window grants the guest bedroom a framed vista of Lake Michigan. Cabinet pulls are appliances are almost completely hidden to create a truly ‘clean’ kitchen. ‘Floating’ shelves hang in built-in wood cabinetry to provide a creative showcase for the owners decorative art collection.
