This 1000sq ft penthouse apartment floating above the roof of an undistinguished 1970s block of flats and accessed from block’s top floor by its own private staircase, it opens out as a glass-fronted, light-filled volume designed in two parts; a central open-plan living area and kitchen and a more enclosed space containing two bedrooms and a bathroom. The design gives the whole apartment spaciousness and flexibility, and the main living space capitalises on some astonishing views across London – Hampstead Heat to the west, the West End to the south and dome of St paul’s to the east.
