Exotic Beach House for Holiday Home by Tatiana Bilbao in Mexico

This exotic beach house as a holiday home in Mexico designed by artist Gabriel Orozco and built with the help of architect Tatiana Bilbao is a tool to know landscape. The Exotic Universe Beach House nestled in a rocky promontory overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is an actual-size replica of one of the structures that make up the Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory in New Delhi.

With its observation platform, built around the swimming pool and small residence, made up of two bedrooms, a living-room and a kitchen, the house opens onto its surroundings. The convex section of the swimming-pool establishes the circulation in the home’s perimeter, where all the visuals are directed outwards. The house was built by local workpeople, using simple materials and technologies (cast concrete, prefabricated blocks, whitewashed plasterwork and wood for the floors and door and window frames), the idea being to create interaction with the topography of the land and the existing vegetation, and to bring out the quality of the site as a panoramic vantage point.
