This contemporary 1950′s West Capitol Hill home renovation project is a challenge for the residential and commercial architecture design firm Stuart Silk Architects to add a second story while preserving several important rooms. The solution began with a new two-story entry addition, which floods the house with light. Floor to ceiling glass on the west side of the living room and master bedroom suites take full advantage of views of the city, lake, and mountains. Upturned wing shaped roofs provide the sense the home is soaring above the surrounding trees.
