This interior design of Nychay Loft,NY is an efforts to address the classic duality of open-loft living vs, partitioned intimacy, while embracing the contrast between a contemporary domestic space with the primitive nature. The space is organized primary for entertaining. This is achieved by creating a linear volume-of-utility, or “box”, along one edge. This allows the loft to breathe as a void along the windowed edge.

The box, wrapped in mahogany, contains the kitchen, mechanical, and secondary spaces, and serves to separate these elements from the public areas. The bathrooms, bedroom and dressing spaces are aligned to allow for continuity of foot long space. A system of sliding and transculent partitions provides privacy.
Articulating the void, the built-in and freestanding furniture use the quality of their materials to occupy and modulate the raw volume into a coherent space for living. The office area is distinguished by a mahogany desk, the dining room by a rosewood table, the kitchen by a teak island, and the living room by a wenge wall. These elements all come together in an assembly of natural material that compliment and soften the raw space. Projects by Resolution: 4 Architecture.
