This contemporary home inspired a home which captures this natural environment and offers a wonderful “canvas” of views throughout the open floor plan, surrounded by the natural beauty of Lake Union to the West and a lush forested hillside sloping up to the East. The sculptural composition of solid stucco and cedar forms are intersected by expansive walls of glass providing an interesting play between the opacity and transparency of the home. Exterior wall planes and materials extend inside further reinforcing this transparency. Dramatic airfoil roof forms reach out into the landscape providing protection from winter rains and afternoon summer sun as well as recalling an aeronautical look in an appropriate gesture to Seattle.
